Mallorca's Cultural Mecca

To get to this Balearic island destination, book a ferry from Valencia or Barcelona, or fly from virtually any European city. You’ll want to rent a car on the island, though taxi service is also available. You'll find travel more expensive in the northern part of the island versus the towns to the south.

While summer temperatures are mild, averaging 23 degrees (C)/73 degrees (F), their hottest season and also the most crowded time is during July and August. If you're planning
a beach excursion, be sure to secure proper parking permits.

Fascinating Piedmont Region

If you want to combine your next vacation with a unique shopping experience, try North Carolina’s Piedmont area. Visit the furniture capital of the U.S. in High Point, with over 50 retail stores.

Learn about the early south in Old Salem, founded in 1766 by the Moravians. Go to Scotland County for art galleries, winery tours, golf and historical civil war sites. In Winston-Salem, you’ll find great wines, pristine gardens and the arts – including the influence of African American heritage.

If you’re craving barbeque, visit Lexington, dubbed the “Barbeque Capital of the World”. There are over 20 eateries serving smoked pork. Purchase souvenir piggy banks and ornaments in stores throughout the town.
